As a Relief Driver with Piggly Wiggly, you will maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through deliveries of products and services while performing all other assigned duties. All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

  • Drive a tractor-trailer (semi-truck/eighteen-wheeler) combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products

  • Make an average of 2-3 stops per day; pallets can consist of all types of products

  • May include picking up backhauls as required.

  • Maneuver the truck into the loading or unloading position

  • Electronic logging according to DOT regulations

  • Inspect the truck before and after trips and submit a report indicating the truck's condition

  • Read the bill of lading to determine the assignment


  • Warehouse: Freezer (-20F to 0F)

  • Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)

  • Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)


  • DOT Certified, Class A Commercial Driver's License

  • Physical abilities: Operating power and manual pallet jacks. Need to be able to lift up to 80 lbs. May need to hand-unload pallets as needed.

  • Valid Department of Transportation Physical Exam.

  • Enjoy working with people.

  • Quality and customer-service focused.

Years of Experience

  • 1 year of recent tractor-trailer experience. (Need 1 year in the last 3 years to qualify)

  • When there isn't driving work available, you may have the opportunity to perform work in the warehouse as an order selector, after required training.

  • When working in the warehouse all standards including safety and performance must be met.

  • Work in the warehouse may be necessary to maintain full-time hours.
